About Krysalida
Krysalida is an idea, a concept, that has the potential to grow and transform into something greater. It has its roots in the word chrysalis. Although it has a blog-type format, it is more of a repository of ideas, where I explore events shaping humanity.
Your host in this little corner of the internet is Tony Mascarenhas, a software developer with a background in industrial design, and a voracious reader. It is likely you’ll find articles here relating to technology and books. There is also a section where I shall be publishing some short stories.
It has not gone unnoticed that most people prefer listening than reading. To this end, I shall try to add an audio version of each of my articles, free to download or listen online.

Recently I have spent a great deal of time thinking about artificial intelligence and the consequences it will have on our societies as it develops into more complex and capable forms. Since last year, I have participated in a series of talks and debates on the subject, discussing the issue. For this reason, a lot of my articles will focus particularly on artificial intelligence.
I’m by no means an expert in the field, but I am worried about the direction in which things are going. Most of all, I want AI developers to be more ethical, their employers less agressive in its pursuit, and their customers more educated about what they are really getting everyone into - because AI doesn’t merely affect a product. It ends up affecting us all.
